Questions

Before you enroll

What is the difference between a Class D and a Class G license?
A Class D license qualifies you to work as an unarmed security officer in Florida, and it starts with our 40-hour course. A Class G license is the armed credential, required to carry a firearm on qualifying posts. We offer both tracks. Most officers earn the Class D first, then move up to Class G.
When do classes run?
In-person classes are held bi-weekly, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. If those hours do not work for you, the course is also available completely online so you can finish on your own schedule.
What should I bring to the in-person course?
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID. The in-person Miami option ($150) includes your passport photo and fingerprints, handled on site, so you do not need to arrange those separately. If you enroll online, plan to complete your photo and fingerprints locally.
Can I get hired at Spectrum after I am licensed?
Yes. Licensed graduates can interview for open posts with us. We prefer candidates with at least five years of military or law enforcement experience, and we hire both Class D and Class G officers. Once you hold your license, head to our Careers page to apply.
How soon will I hear back after I register?
You will be contacted within 30 minutes during office hours to complete the registration process. If you would rather talk it through first, call us at 1-800-583-0759, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.
